Kokoro
Kokoro – This place was the rage when they first open their franchise location in Downtown. Every time I walk pass by there was a long line up for it. I have also seen many IG posting about the unique dry udon style dish. The visual appeal and the unique drink packaging had pique my interest for some time but since I don’t go to Downtown often, I don’t like the line up. Luckily enough, they had open another location close to home which was the perfect opportunity to try out the rage of this dish. I had ordered the salmon avocado mazesoba whereas the hubs ordered the niku mazesoba. The toppings were different but the base is the same. Udon on the bottom with a egg yolk on top with the toppings where you mix it well and you add a little or as much vinegar you like to mixture. The experience was fun and unique since it was something I had never tried before. Personally I love Udon or noodles in general so I found the dish to be very filling and tasty. The base flavour with the udon is the same for all the dishes. The flavour is very distinctive so it’s really not so different from the rest of the mazesoba selection when it comes to taste. The topping just adds or enhances the taste to the udon mixture more. As for the drinks – the Tokyo ice milk tea and the blue hawaii lemonade was right up my alley in taste. I enjoyed them both equally yet they are both very different. They weren’t very sweet – one was refreshing whereas the other one was more milky and slightly heavy which at times left me feeling a little too heavy because the mazesoba is on the heavier side as well. The only downside to the drinks is the heavy plastic packaging. Although it’s unique but the consumption of plastic is already so high – I would have preferred if they just put it in a glass or cup that can be reused. Overall – I would give this a try because it’s different and I would like to try their ramen dishes as well to compare.
