Tsujiri – Automall
Tsujiri – Automall – On the hunt for food at the Richmond Automall as I was waiting for my car to get serviced. I was surprised that there was another Tsujiri opened in Richmond, and it was located inside OpenRoad Toyota’s location! It’s a small kiosk front which had a smaller menu compared to the in Central Richmond. I had never order any of their savory meals before so I thought I would try out their Tonkotsu Black – a ramen style cha soba in soy milk pork soup base with slicked pork and black garlic oil. Based on the description of the dish, it looked very attractive with the concept of black garlic oil in it. Since I’ve never tried black garlic oil before, I was curious on how this would taste. Result? I was underwhelmed. This portion of noodles and meat were definitely disportionate. The slices of pork were thin and seems mediocre with no specific taste or softness and melt in the mouth feel. The soba didn’t really have much flavor of any sort it just looks nice since it’s made with matcha. As for the garlic? I wouldn’t have known there was any garlic flavour or let alone know what black garlic tasted like. So sadly, I wouldn’t come to Tsujiri for their food. If were to go there, I would just go for their drinks and sweets. For the price point of how much they charge for a bowl – I would rather go to an actual ramen shop and get a piping hot bowl of ramen instead.
