Amazon Meal Kits
Amazon Meal Kits – Took a day trip down to Seattle with my mom and sister. One of our destinations was to Amazon Go – Cashierless. It was a bizarre and very novelty experience that was very mind boggling for all of us. Upon entering we asked the personnel in the front to see how it works. You have to sign up with an amazon account to register your credit card information with Amazon go. Luckily the entire store had wifi so before you are allowed to go inside you need to sign up for the app in order to tap and get access through the gates. Once we got in, we took a look through. It looks very much like a typical small grocery store. Prices I must say were definitely pricey than your typical grocery store. However, one thing that caught our eyes was Amazon Meal Kits. That was something different and unique. There was at least 4-5 selection to choose from and each kit provides two servings. The price typically range from $18-22 USD which I calculated was a pretty good deal to be split between 2 people. I decided to purchase the lamb stuffed peppers. The shelf life of these kits are short, but it shows how fresh these are. Upon unveiling, the items inside were individually packed and fresh with a simple recipe to follow. There was a few small things I needed to chop up i.e. the pepper and the orange which I assume it was due to maintaining freshness. The time it took to prepare was fairly short and easy. As for taste – surprisingly it was nice and delightful. Portion wise it was good, and it felt nice to not have to prep and the combination of flavour was something I don`t usually make at home. It`s nice to have a unique meal at home to eat. I liked the fact that I can keep the recipe and make it again. However, the only downside the large amount of packaging waste it has in order to make this kit. It`s something that it`s typically expected for these prep meals however, I hope Amazon can figure out a way to reduce the waste. All in all, I would definitely try another meal kit when I visit again.
