BBQ Olive Chicken
BBQ Olive Chicken – I am a fan of watching Kdramas. I admit it – I have no shame….So when this particular fried chicken place started to pop up in the neighbourhood – I was already on board to try it since it’s been showcased in many popular dramas. So it was a no brainer to order their signature original flavour and the sweet and spicy sauce one. Interesting about this company is that they sell you half or full chicken. You don’t get a choice of just thighs and drumsticks – which is different from many fried chicken joints here. Just from the looks of it – it’s fairly crispy. Once you bite into it – I was happily surprised that all parts of the chicken were very well seasoned and moist. I was a little skeptical of the breast meat since that tends to be the most dry meat of the entire chicken. However their seasoning, and leaving it as a dry age process makes the fried chicken spectacularly delicious. I enjoy the olive oil that it was fried in since it gives it a nice after taste which doesn’t leave you feeling greasy or heavy. As they claim – it a healthy version of fried chicken. In honesty – there is nothing remotely healthy when you fry anything. I’m aware that some people agree it taste less greasy but they don’t like the aftertaste of the olive oil is what I think provides a signature flavour which makes the chicken unique. But others find that taste a little put off since it doesn’t leave a lingering chicken taste – but a olive oil taste which some aren’t fond of. So if you’re in a HMart or a stand alone restaurant – I encourage you to try it with a can of cold beer. You won’t be disappointed.
