Yuji From Japan
Yuji’s From Japan – I’ve been anticipating and patiently waiting to try this place out for a long time. This place was highly recommended by a sake vendor who was at the Vancouver wine festival last year. Since then, I’ve been trying to find an opportunity to try it out. I decided to go with my cousin to celebrate our birthday together. Yuji is more of a tapa style restaurant which focuses on simplistic and fresh ingredients and a mix of sushi serving as well. We ordered the beef tongue which was nicely grilled and nice subtle taste but I found the texture a slightly too tough. The negitoro roll and Negri sushi was a great combination but I felt the taste was a bit mild that nothing that stood out for me. We did enjoy the miso stable fish which paired very nicely with the local Sake called “Yu” which is brewed in Richmond. The unique mango and prosciutto and basil vingarette was a fun tasting. My favorite dish was their steam egg soup – it was very homey and comforting familiar. The flavour again was very light but still very full and so enjoyable. I loved every spoon I got. Overall, I felt this is a nice place to enjoy Sake with but I can’t say it’s the best tapas place. I think I still enjoy Guu instead for more of their bolder taste.
